Garage Door Cables
We use high-quality cables made with aircraft grade steel and 19 wires per strand.
Garage Door Cables
Garage door cables are how your garage door's springs are attached to your garage door. When you open your garage door, your garage door's springs help open your garage door by pulling on your garage door's cables. Your garage door's cables also help you close your garage door. When you close your garage door, your garage door's springs help close your door by pulling on your garage door's cables, too. This makes your door close in a slow, controlled, and safe manner. When one of your garage door's cables breaks, then only one of your garage door's springs help open and close your garage door. This adds extra stress to your garage door's hardware and can cause other parts of your garage door to break.
We use high-quality cables designed to last much longer and make much less noise than the industry's standard garage door cables. We use aircraft grade steel because of its quality, durability, and flexibility. We also use 19 wires per cable instead of the standard 9 wires per cable. The additional strands increase the cable's strength and durability because your garage door's weight is spread across 19 wires woven into each cable instead of 9 wires woven into standard cables.
We want you to hear our customers' perspective on our garage door cables, too. So, we've placed a few reviews below from popular websites where our customers mention our cables.

Kori thought her garage door needed new cables.
Our technician noticed her garage door was installed completely wrong. We got Kori's garage door setup properly and replaced her garage door's cables.
“Highly recommend Precision Door! We just had them out to replace what I thought was a simple cable snap. Turns out, our garage door was installed completely wrong and Rick caught it right away. He was knowledgeable and quick! I really appreciate him taking the time to point out all the things he saw wrong and making sure he fixed it all. I would have never known so many things were wrong. Now everything is working as it should!”

A cable on Lenny's garage door broke when it was -23° outside. Brr!
We got Lenny's garage door cables replaced and the rest of his door fixed the same day he called us.
“Super Service! It was -23° last night and my garage door froze to the floor. When I went to raise it one of the cables popped off and the door jammed sideways. Long story short, I called first thing this morning and was surprised to hear that a tech would be out around noon. Patrick showed up and was extremely professional and told me exactly what it would cost and how long it would take to fix. The service was great and the cost was more than fair! Thanks so much Patrick! Highly recommend this company”

Frequently Asked Questions
We get a lot of great questions about our garage door cables. We've put our answers to a few important and common questions below.
- What is the purpose of a garage door's cables?
- Your garage door's cables attach the garage door's springs to the garage door itself. Since the garage door moves but your garage door's springs do not, your garage door needs some way of applying the pulling force from the springs to the door regardless of the garage door's position. This is your cables' job, which wind up around your garage door's drums when your garage door closes. And, unwind when your garage door opens.
- Can I operate my garage door when one of the cables is broken?
- We strongly recommend you do not try moving your garage door when one of the cables is broken. Moving the garage door when one cable is broken can cause additional damage to the garage door's other parts.
- One of the cables on my garage door broke. Do I need to replace the other unbroken cable, too?
- You do not need to, but we recommend replacing both cables when one of the cables break. Since one of your cables has already broken, your other cable is likely is likely nearing the end of its useful life, too. Waiting to replace the other cable is being penny-wise and pound foolish. When the other cable breaks it will probably cause additional, costly damage to your garage door.
